What is in the box

## A Playbook is not a book. It contains a game.

A hand holds up the red element sheet, roughly half its circular tokens already punched out, over a coffee table scattered with the loose tokens that fell free.

### 2 punch-out token sheets

Thirty elements, twenty-five radicals and the valencies that join them, printed and die-cut so a student pushes them out and puts them on a table. The word on each token is the code, and the colour repeats it — an element, a radical, a valency. A radical carries an inner ring as well, so the three types stay apart on a photocopy and for a reader who cannot separate the red from the green.

- Na
- 1
- Cl

The three types are told apart by what they carry and how they are drawn, not by colour — a radical carries a ring, a valency is smaller and set in figures.

- The Language of Chemistry cover, laid flat on a wood table.
  ### 112 pages
The method, the charts, the activities and the exercises — in the order a student works through them.
- A student’s hand mid-exercise, pencil in hand, ticking symbols on the Activity I page.
  ### 19 exercises, 279 questions
Across 6 activities and 2 charts. Enough repetition for the notation to become automatic, which is the entire point of drilling a language.
- Two worked chemical-formula examples, each with its answer printed at the foot of the page — mercuric sulphide, then cupric sulphate.
  ### All answers enclosed
The book marks itself. A parent who never studied chemistry can still check the work, and nothing is held back for a separate guide.
- The scoring bands printed on the book’s back cover — 184 of 184 down to the 172-mark repeat gate — the same numbers the internal Evaluation Chart uses.
  ### Evaluation chart
Scores are read against a chart, because the chapter gate is a number and not an opinion.

## What does a bookseller need to know?

The published price is ₹399; each retailer sets its own. The Playbook is consumable: the tokens are punched out, the Exercises are written in and the score goes on the evaluation chart, so a shop sells one copy to each student. Terms for a shop are quoted on request. If you stock it and would like to be on the[list of shops](/where-to-buy/#stockists), tell the Kochi office.

## What does a distributor need to know?

A distributor supplying shops, schools or centres is quoted on request. This site publishes no trade price, discount, margin or minimum order, and none is implied.

## What may a stockist say about the book?

A shop or a distributor may say it stocks the book and name it correctly. It may not use the Playway name or marks as its own — in a shop name, a domain or as an advertising keyword. The CISCE letter of 18 December 2002 and the NCERT comments of 1 July 2008 are not accreditation and not approval of any book as a prescribed text, and no one, a stockist or a distributor included, may present them as either. The[trade marks page](/legal/trademarks/) sets this out in full.

## What if you find a scan or a counterfeit copy?

Scans of the book turn up on file-sharing sites and in messaging groups, and counterfeit printings on marketplaces. A publisher this size finds out from readers or not at all. Write to[learn@playwaybooks.com](mailto:learn@playwaybooks.com) with a link or a screenshot, or use the[grievance page](/legal/grievances/).

## Which shops carry it now?

- H&C Books · Ernakulam

The list is short and it is growing. A customer who wants a single copy, from a shop or online, can[find a retailer or a stockist](/where-to-buy/).

Questions

## What the trade asks before it orders.

What does a shop or a distributor receive?

A Playbook: 112 pages in 3 chapters, 2 sheets of punch-out tokens, 19 Exercises with every answer enclosed, and an evaluation chart. It is a consumable workbook, sold one copy per student.

Are trade terms published?

No. Pricing for a shop or a distributor is quoted on request, so there is no discount, margin or minimum order on this site. Use the enquiry form on this page or ring the Kochi office on +91 99471 23678.

May a shop say it stocks the Playbook?

Yes, and name the book correctly. A shop or a distributor may not use the Playway name or marks as its own — in a shop name, a domain or as an advertising keyword — and may not present the CISCE or NCERT letters as approval or accreditation of the book, which they are not.

What should I do if I find a scan or a counterfeit copy?

Tell the office. Scans of the book turn up on file-sharing sites and in messaging groups, and counterfeit printings on marketplaces. Write to learn@playwaybooks.com with a link or a screenshot; the grievance page lists the other routes.

Where does a customer who wants one copy go?

To the Where to Buy page, which lists the retailers and the shops that carry it. Playway Books does not sell from this website; there is no cart here.

### The enquiry form

Your shop or business, the city, what you would like to stock or supply, and how to reach you.

Or skip the form: ring [+91 99471 23678](tel:+919947123678) or write to [learn@playwaybooks.com](mailto:learn@playwaybooks.com). A person in Kochi reads both, and an enquiry by telephone is exactly as welcome as one through the form.

**What happens to this.** We use it to answer your enquiry, send a sample copy and prepare a quotation — nothing else. It is not sold and it is not shared with an advertiser. The form is run for us by HubSpot on their European servers, so what you type is held by HubSpot as well as by Playway Books. And because the form is part of this page, HubSpot knows you opened it whether or not you write anything.

You can ask us to correct or erase it at any time, and withdraw your consent, by writing one line to [learn@playwaybooks.com](mailto:learn@playwaybooks.com). The [privacy policy](/legal/privacy/) lists who processes it, how long it is kept and the rights you have.

Please have a member of staff or a parent fill this in rather than a student — s. 9 of that Act governs the data of anyone under eighteen, and we would rather not hold any.
