Cookies and tracking
Version 2.0, in effect from 2 September 2026, and it supersedes every earlier version of this page. Playway Books may revise this text; the version and date above change when it does, and continued use of this website after that is acceptance of the revision. If you need the text as it stood on a particular date — because you are relying on it — write and ask, and it will be sent to you.
There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to
This website sets no cookie of its own. Not a functional one, not a preference one, not an analytics one. It runs no analytics package, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no remarketing tag, no heatmap, no session recorder and no social tracking script. Nothing here follows you to another site, and nothing here knows you have been before.
Two third parties can set one, and both wait for you to act first — the map on the contact page, and the bot check on the schools enquiry form. Both are set out below.
You will not see a consent banner on this site. That is not an omission: there is no non-essential cookie here to ask you about, and a banner that asked would be asking about nothing.
This page was drafted for this website and this company on 2 September 2026. It states the law as we understand it and describes what we actually do, but it has not yet been settled by a lawyer, and it is not legal advice. If anything here is wrong, tell us at learn@playwaybooks.com and it will be corrected rather than defended.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on your next visit, so that the site can recognise the browser. Related technologies do the same job by other means — local storage, session storage, pixels, fingerprinting scripts, software development kits inside apps. This page covers all of them, not just the ones literally called cookies, because a policy that only mentions cookies is a policy with a gap in it.
What this site does instead
Nothing that needs one. The pages are static, so there is no session to keep. There is no account, so there is nothing to log into and nothing to remember. Your theme, your language and your place on a page are handled by the browser itself. The three typefaces are served from our own domain rather than a font network, so no third party sees a request for them.
The one measurement this site takes has no cookie in it. When you press a Buy control the link passes through this site before opening the retailer, and one number goes up: how many people pressed that shop’s button that day. No cookie, no identifier, no IP address, no session, no row per person. It cannot be worked backwards into a reader, which is the only reason it is allowed here. The privacy policy describes it in full.
Our server keeps ordinary security logs, as any server does, and they are retained for 180 days because the CERT-In Directions of 28 April 2022 require it. They are not analytics and nobody reads them to find out what you looked at.
The two third parties, and how to avoid each
Both are click-to-load or submit-time. Neither runs on page load, and neither can set anything if you do nothing.
| Who | When it runs | What it may set | How to avoid it entirely |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Maps, on the contact page | Only after you press “Load the map”. Until you do, no request is made to Google at all and nothing about you reaches them. | Google may then set its own cookies and receive your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy rather than ours. | Do not press the button. The address, the telephone number and a plain link to open the map in a new tab are all on the page without it. |
| The bot check on the schools enquiry form | Only when the form is being submitted, and only where the check is switched on. | It may set a short-lived cookie or store a token in your browser to confirm the submission came from a browser rather than a script. It is an anti-abuse measure and it builds no profile of you. | Ring the office on the number below instead. An enquiry taken by telephone is exactly as welcome as one taken by the form. |
And the retailers, once you leave
Amazon, Flipkart, JioMart and any other shop you reach from here are separate companies with their own cookies and their own policies, and those apply from the moment their page loads. We have no control over them and no visibility into them. The same is true of the social platforms our footer links to; nothing from those platforms is embedded on this site, so none of them can see you here unless you click through.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every current browser lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, and clear what is already stored. The setting is usually under Privacy in the browser’s own settings, and the browser’s help explains its own version better than we could. Blocking everything will not break this site, because it does not rely on a cookie for anything — the only thing you would lose is the map, which you can open in a new tab instead.
Sending a “do not track” or global privacy control signal changes nothing here, for the honest reason that there is no tracking to switch off.
If this changes
If Playway Books ever adds analytics, an embedded video, a chat widget or anything else that sets a cookie, this page changes first and a consent mechanism goes in before the thing does — not afterwards. The version and date at the head of the page are how you can tell.
Questions about anything on this page go to learn@playwaybooks.com, and a person answers them.
Nothing here is watching you.
If you think something on this site is tracking you and this page says otherwise, tell us — that would be a defect, and we would fix it the same day.
